Important Family Documents
What documents do you need to safeguard? This family documents checklist from JMA includes a general listing of emergency papers and information, personal financial and non-financial papers, bank and credit accounts, and investment and insurance documents. Make any necessary additions and skip items that don’t apply.
Be sure the items on the list are easy to find, and ideally, organized in a fireproof filing cabinet or home safe. JMA suggests you complete the checklist—listing locations and comments next to each item, and then send a copy of the annotated list to the executor of your estate and to key family members.
